Apesar do significativo aumento da população juvenil Caboverdiana na virada do século, Cabo Verde não se preparou para atender às necessidades básicas desses Caboverdianos. Faltam-lhes escolas de boa qualidade, segurança, emprego e políticas públicas que visem à melhoria da qualidade de vida. O jovem quando começa suas tentativas fica com medo de ser desvalorizado em seus esforços e isso acaba gerando atitude de incapacid.

First Place in the Central PA Magazine Short Story Contest. It was awarded top honors from among 164 entries representing authors from all over the state.
